Ingredients:

- 800 g potatoes
- 200 ml cream
- 100 ml milk
- 1 onion
- 2 garlic cloves
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp nutmeg
- 100 g grated cheese (e.g., Emmental or mozzarella)
- Fresh herbs (e.g., parsley or thyme) for garnish

Instructions:

1. Peel and slice the potatoes into thin rounds.
2. Finely chop the onion and garlic.
3. In a saucepan, heat the cream and milk, then add the onion and garlic. Let it simmer on low heat for about 5 minutes.
4. Season the mixture with salt, black pepper, and nutmeg.
5. Layer the potato slices in a baking dish and pour the cream mixture over them.
6. Stir well and smooth the surface.
7. Sprinkle the grated cheese on top of the potatoes.
8. Bake in a preheated oven at 200°C (392°F) for about 30-35 minutes, until the potatoes are tender and the top is golden brown.
