No-Knead Dutch Oven Bread
recipe
Preparation Time: 12 hours (overnight) + 1 hour baking time Serving Size: 1 loaf
This easy and delicious Dutch oven bread requires no kneading and rises overnight. The secret to its crispy crust and soft interior lies in the long rise and baking in a hot pot.
Ingredients:
- 500 g all-purpose flour- 1.5 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp dry yeast
- 4 dl room temperature water
Instructions:
1. In a large bowl, mix together the flour, salt, and dry yeast.2. Add the water and stir until a smooth, sticky dough forms. The dough will be loose, don’t worry about the texture.
3. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap or a cloth and let the dough rise at room temperature for about 12 hours, preferably overnight.
4. Once the dough has risen, preheat the oven to 230°C (450°F) and place a covered cast-iron pot in the oven to heat up.
5. Lightly flour a work surface and carefully turn the dough out onto it. Shape the dough into a round ball without kneading.
6. Gently transfer the dough into the hot pot. Cover with the lid and bake for 30 minutes.
7. Remove the lid and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, until the bread is beautifully golden brown and crusty.
8. Allow the bread to cool on a wire rack before slicing.
