Lángos is a delicious Hungarian street food, known for its crispy exterior and soft, fluffy interior. It can be topped with a variety of delicious toppings for a satisfying treat.
Ingredients:
- 500 g all-purpose flour
- 25 g fresh yeast
- 2 dl warm water
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 tbsp oil (plus more for frying)
- Toppings (e.g. sour cream, grated cheese, ham, tomato)
Instructions:
1. Dissolve the yeast and sugar in warm water. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it bubbles.
2. In a large bowl, mix the flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture and oil.
3. Knead the dough for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
4. Cover the dough with a cloth and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
5. Heat oil in a deep pan.
6. Divide the risen dough into small pieces and roll them into round discs.
7. Fry the dough pieces in hot oil on both sides until golden brown.
8. Place the cooked lángos on paper towels to drain excess oil.
9. Serve warm with your choice of toppings. Enjoy!
