A delicious recipe for making sushi maki rolls, perfect as an appetizer or main dish. Preparation time is about 45 minutes and serves 4.Ingredients:
- 2 cups sushi rice
- 2.5 cups water
- 1/4 cup rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 4 sheets nori
- 100 g fresh salmon (or other fish)
- 1 avocado
- 1 cucumber
- Soy sauce for serving
- Wasabi and ginger (optional)
Instructions:
1. Rinse sushi rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Transfer rice to a pot and add water. Cook over medium heat for about 20 minutes or until the water is absorbed.
2. In a small bowl, mix rice vinegar, sugar, and salt until the sugar dissolves. Add this mixture to the cooked rice and stir gently. Allow the rice to cool.
3. Slice the salmon, avocado, and cucumber into thin strips.
4. Place a sheet of nori on a bamboo mat (or a clean cutting board). Spread the rice evenly over the nori, leaving the edges empty.
5. Lay the salmon, avocado, and cucumber on top of the rice.
6. Using the bamboo mat, roll the nori tightly around the rice. Cut the roll into slices with a sharp knife.
7. Serve the maki rolls with soy sauce, wasabi, and ginger.
