These Finnish chocolate squares combine dark chocolate, espresso, and whiskey for a rich and indulgent treat perfect for autumn coffee breaks.

Serving Size: 12-15 pieces

Ingredients:

- 200 g butter
- 4 dl sugar
- 4 dl all-purpose flour
- 1 dl cocoa powder
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 4 eggs
- 1 dl strong espresso
- 100 g dark chocolate
- 1 dl whiskey

Frosting:

- 100 g butter
- 4 dl powdered sugar
- 2 tbsp cocoa powder
- 2 tbsp strong espresso
- 2 tbsp whiskey
- 50 g dark chocolate (melted)

Instructions:

1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease and flour a square baking pan (about 20x20 cm).
2. Melt the butter in a saucepan. Add the sugar and mix well.
3. Remove the pan from heat and stir in the eggs, one at a time.
4. In a separate bowl, mix together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to the butter mixture, alternating with the espresso and whiskey.
5. Finally, fold in the melted dark chocolate until well combined.
6. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for about 25-30 minutes, until the top is set but the inside is still slightly moist.
7. For the frosting, melt the butter in a saucepan and add the powdered sugar, cocoa powder, espresso, and whiskey. Mix well and then stir in the melted dark chocolate.
8. Spread the frosting over the warm mokkapalat and allow to cool before cutting into squares.
