Spaghetti Aglio e Olio

A classic Italian pasta dish that is simple, delicious, and made with just a few ingredients. Preparation time: 20 minutes
Serving size: 4 servings
Ingredients:
- 400g spaghetti
- 6 cloves garlic, thinly sliced
- 1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil
- 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- Salt, to taste
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
- Grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
Instructions:
1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the spaghetti and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve 1 cup of pasta water, then drain the spaghetti.
2. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced garlic and sauté until golden brown, about 2 minutes. Be careful not to burn the garlic.
3. Add the red pepper flakes to the skillet and stir for about 30 seconds.
4. Toss the drained spaghetti into the skillet with the garlic and oil mixture. Add reserved pasta water a little at a time until you reach your desired sauce consistency.
5. Season with salt to taste and mix well.
6. Serve hot, garnished with fresh parsley and grated Parmesan cheese if desired.
