A simple and flavorful Italian pasta dish with garlic and olive oil

Ingredients:

- 200g spaghetti
- 4 cloves garlic, thinly sliced
- 60ml extra virgin olive oil
- 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- Salt, to taste
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
- Grated Parmesan cheese (optional)

Instructions:

1. Cook the spaghetti in a pot of boiling salted water according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve 1/2 cup of pasta water and then drain the spaghetti.
2. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced garlic and sauté until it turns golden brown, being careful not to burn it.
3. Add the red pepper flakes and stir for about 30 seconds.
4. Add the drained spaghetti to the skillet, along with a bit of the reserved pasta water. Toss everything together to combine, ensuring the spaghetti is well coated with the oil and garlic.
5. Season with salt to taste and toss in the chopped parsley.
6. Serve immediately, topped with grated Parmesan cheese if desired.
