Spaghetti Aglio e Olio

Ingredients:
- 400g spaghetti
- 6 cloves garlic, thinly sliced
- 1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- Salt, to taste
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
- Grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
Instructions:
1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add spaghetti and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve 1 cup of pasta water, then drain the spaghetti.
2. While the pasta is cooking, heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
3. Add sliced garlic to the skillet and sauté until golden brown, about 2 minutes. Be careful not to burn the garlic.
4. Add red pepper flakes and sauté for another 30 seconds.
5. Add the drained spaghetti to the skillet and toss to coat in the garlic oil. If the mixture seems dry, add reserved pasta water a little at a time until desired consistency is achieved.
6. Season with salt to taste.
7. Remove from heat and garnish with chopped parsley. Serve with grated Parmesan cheese if desired.
