Spaghetti Aglio e Olio

A simple yet flavorful Italian pasta dish made with garlic and olive oil. Preparation time: 20 minutes
Serving size: 4
Ingredients:
- 400g spaghetti
- 6 cloves garlic, thinly sliced
- 1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- Salt, to taste
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
- Grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
Instructions:
1. Boil a large pot of salted water and cook the spaghetti according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve 1 cup of pasta water, then drain the pasta.
2. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced garlic and sauté until it turns golden brown, being careful not to burn it.
3. Add the red pepper flakes and stir for about 30 seconds.
4. Add the drained spaghetti to the skillet, tossing to coat in the garlic oil. If the pasta seems dry, add a little reserved pasta water.
5. Season with salt and mix well.
6. Remove from heat, garnish with chopped parsley, and serve with grated Parmesan cheese if desired.
