Traditional Rice Porridge

A delicious and filling dish perfect for breakfast or as a filling for Karelian pastries. Preparation Time: 30 minutes
Serving Size: 4 servings
Ingredients:
- 1 cup rice porridge rice
- 2 cups milk
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon butter (optional)
- Sugar and cinnamon to taste (for serving)
Instructions:
1. Rinse the rice under cold water in a sieve.
2. Place the rice in a pot and add the milk and salt.
3. Heat the mixture over medium heat, stirring regularly until it comes to a boil.
4. Reduce the heat and let the porridge simmer on low for about 20 minutes, until the rice is cooked and the porridge has thickened.
5. Remove the pot from the heat and stir in the butter, if using.
6. Allow the porridge to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy it plain or add sugar and cinnamon on top.
