Ingredients:
- 800 g potatoes
- 2 dl heavy cream
- 1 dl milk
- 2 garlic cloves
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp nutmeg
- 100 g cheese (e.g., Emmental or Cheddar), grated
- Butter for greasing the baking dish
Instructions:
1. Peel and slice the potatoes into thin rounds.
2. Peel and finely chop the garlic cloves.
3. Grease a baking dish with butter and layer the potato slices in the dish.
4. In a bowl, mix together the cream, milk, garlic, salt, black pepper, and nutmeg.
5. Pour the cream mixture over the layers of potatoes.
6. Sprinkle the grated cheese on top of the potatoes.
7. Cover the dish with foil and bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for about 40 minutes.
8. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes until the top is beautifully golden brown.
9. Let it rest for a few minutes before serving.
