recipe
An easy and effortless bread recipe, perfect for the lazy baker. This Dutch oven bread requires no kneading and is a great addition to any meal. Preparation Time: 12 hours (includes rising)
Serving Size: 1 loaf
Ingredients:
- 500 g all-purpose flour
- 1.5 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
- 400 ml water
Instructions:
1. In a large bowl, mix together the flour, salt, and yeast.
2. Add the water and stir until the ingredients combine into a smooth but sticky dough.
3. Cover the bowl with a cloth or plastic wrap and let the dough rise at room temperature for about 12 hours, or until the surface is bubbly and the dough has risen.
4. When the dough has risen, preheat your oven to 230°C (450°F) and place a cast-iron Dutch oven (or another oven-safe pot) in the oven without its lid.
5. Carefully remove the pot from the oven and sprinkle a little flour on the bottom. Gently pour the dough into the pot.
6. Cover the pot with its lid and return it to the oven. Bake for 30 minutes covered, then remove the lid and bake for another 15-20 minutes, until the bread is beautifully golden brown.
7. Allow the bread to cool on a wire rack before slicing.
