A delightful and easy dessert where pears are poached in spiced cider and served with maple syrup whipped cream. Perfect for celebrating International Women's Day. Preparation Time: 30 minutes

Ingredients:
- 4 ripe pears - 500 ml spiced cider
- 1/4 tsp saffron
- 200 ml heavy cream
- 2 tbsp maple syrup
Instructions:
1. Peel the pears and remove the stems if necessary. 2. Place the pears in a pot and pour the spiced cider over them. Add the saffron.
3. Heat the mixture until boiling and simmer the pears for about 15-20 minutes, until they are soft.
4. Meanwhile, whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form, then fold in the maple syrup.
5. Serve the pears on a plate with a generous dollop of maple syrup whipped cream on top.
