Serving Size: 4-6 servings
Ingredients:
- 800 g potatoes
- 200 ml heavy cream
- 100 ml milk
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 100 g grated cheese (e.g., Emmental or Cheddar)
- 1 onion (optional)
- Butter for greasing the dish
Instructions:
1. Peel and slice the potatoes into thin slices.
2. If using onion, slice it into thin rings as well.
3. Grease a baking dish with butter and layer the potatoes and onion slices in the dish.
4. In a bowl, mix the cream, milk, salt, and black pepper. Pour the mixture over the potatoes.
5. Sprinkle the grated cheese on top of the potatoes.
6. Cover the dish with foil and bake at 180°C (350°F) for about 45 minutes.
7. Remove the foil and continue baking for another 10-15 minutes until the top is beautifully golden brown.
8. Allow to rest for a moment before serving.
