A delightful Finnish sweet bun, perfect for cozy gatherings. Preparation Time: 2 hours
Serving Size: 12 buns
Ingredients:
- 500 g all-purpose flour
- 250 ml milk
- 100 g butter
- 75 g sugar
- 25 g fresh yeast
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp cardamom
- Powdered sugar for decoration
Instructions:
1. Warm the milk to body temperature and dissolve the crumbled yeast in it.
2. Melt the butter and add it to the milk mixture.
3. Stir in the sugar, egg, salt, and cardamom into the mixture.
4. Gradually add the all-purpose flour and knead the dough for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
5. Cover the dough with a cloth and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour.
6. Once the dough has risen, knead it again and shape it into round buns.
7. Place the buns on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
8. Bake the buns in a preheated oven at 200°C (392°F) for about 15-20 minutes, until they are beautifully golden brown.
9. Allow to cool and sprinkle powdered sugar on top before serving.
