A delightful treat that brings joy during Shrove Tuesday! Soft and rich buns filled with whipped cream and almonds, offering a perfect taste experience.
Preparation Time: 1 hour (plus rising time)
Serving Size: 12 buns
Ingredients:
- 5 dl milk
- 50 g fresh yeast
- 1 dl sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp cardamom
- 1 dl butter (melted)
- 12 dl all-purpose flour
- 2 dl whipped cream
- 1 dl almond flakes
- 1 dl jam (raspberry or strawberry)
Instructions:
1. Heat the milk until lukewarm and dissolve the fresh yeast in it.
2. Add sugar, salt, and cardamom. Mix well.
3. Gradually add melted butter and all-purpose flour to the mixture. Knead the dough for about 10 minutes until it is elastic.
4. Let the dough rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until it has doubled in size.
5. Divide the dough into 12 pieces and shape them into buns.
6. Place the buns on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
7. Bake the buns in an oven preheated to 225°C (437°F) for about 10-15 minutes until they are beautifully golden brown.
8. Allow the buns to cool.
9. Cut the tops off the buns, add jam and whipped cream inside, and sprinkle almond flakes on top.
