Delicious soft buns filled with flavor and tradition. Perfect for Shrove Tuesday or for a coffee table treat. Preparation Time: 2 hours (includes rising time)
Serving Size: 12 buns
Ingredients:
- 5 dl milk
- 1 dl sugar
- 2 tsp salt
- 1 packet dry yeast (about 11 g)
- 1 tsp cardamom
- 12-14 dl all-purpose flour
- 100 g butter (melted)
- Almond paste or jam for filling
- Whipped cream for serving
Instructions:
1. Warm the milk until lukewarm. Mix in the sugar, salt, and dry yeast.
2. Add the cardamom and most of the flour. Knead the dough.
3. Incorporate the melted butter and continue kneading until the dough is smooth and elastic.
4. Cover the dough bowl with a cloth and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, until doubled in size.
5. Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and divide it into 12 pieces. Shape the buns into round forms.
6. Place the buns on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and let them rise again for about 30 minutes.
7. Bake the buns at 225°C (437°F) for about 10-12 minutes, until golden brown.
8. Allow the buns to cool, then slice them open. Fill with almond paste or jam and add whipped cream.
