Laskiaispullat (Finnish Cardamom Buns)

A delightful sweet bun filled with almond paste or jam and topped with whipped cream. Perfect for celebrations! Preparation Time: 2 hours
Serving Size: 12 buns
Ingredients:
- 2.5 dl milk
- 25 g fresh yeast
- 1 dl sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp cardamom
- 1 dl melted butter
- 1 egg
- 7-8 dl all-purpose flour
- Almond paste or jam (for filling)
- Whipped cream (for topping)
Instructions:
1. Warm the milk until lukewarm and dissolve the fresh yeast in it.
2. Add sugar, salt, cardamom, melted butter, and the egg. Mix well.
3. Gradually add flour until the dough is elastic.
4. Knead the dough for about 10 minutes until smooth.
5. Let the dough rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
6. Knead the dough again and divide it into about 12 pieces.
7. Shape the pieces into round buns and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
8. Allow the buns to rise for another 30 minutes.
9. Bake the buns in a preheated oven at 200°C for about 10-12 minutes or until golden brown.
10. Let the buns cool, then cut them in half.
11. Fill the buns with almond paste or jam and top with whipped cream.
12. Enjoy the laskiaispullat with a hot cup of cocoa!
