Delicious soft buns filled with almond paste and whipped cream. This recipe adds a fun twist to a traditional treat.

Ingredients

- 2 cups milk
- 1.75 oz fresh yeast
- 0.5 cup sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp ground cardamom
- 0.5 cup melted butter
- 1.5 cups all-purpose flour (plus extra for kneading)
- 1 egg (for brushing)

Fillings

- 7 oz almond paste
- 1 cup whipped cream
- 1 tbsp powdered sugar (for decoration)

Instructions

1. Warm the milk to body temperature and dissolve the yeast in it.
2. Add sugar, salt, ground cardamom, and melted butter. Mix well.
3. Gradually incorporate the flour until you have a soft and elastic dough.
4. Cover the dough with a cloth and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour.
5. Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead lightly. Divide the dough into 12 pieces and shape them into buns.
6. Place the buns on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
7. Brush the buns with the egg mixture and bake at 440°F (225°C) for about 10-12 minutes, until golden brown.
8. Allow the buns to cool before filling.
9. Cut the tops off the buns and fill them with almond paste and whipped cream.
10. Dust with powdered sugar and serve.
