Delicious sweet buns filled with a rich filling, perfect for enjoying during Shrove Tuesday.
Preparation time: 1 hour 30 minutes (including rising time). Serving size: about 12 buns.
Ingredients:
- 5 dl milk
- 50 g fresh yeast
- 1 dl sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp cardamom
- 1 dl butter (melted)
- 1 egg
- 12 dl all-purpose flour
- Almond paste or jam (for filling)
- Whipped cream
- Powdered sugar (for decoration)
Instructions:
1. Warm the milk until lukewarm and dissolve the yeast in it.
2. Add sugar, salt, cardamom, and melted butter. Mix well.
3. Incorporate the egg and stir to combine.
4. Gradually add the flour until the dough is soft and pulls away from the sides of the bowl.
5. Cover the dough with a cloth and let it rise for about 30-45 minutes, until doubled in size.
6. Divide the dough into 12 pieces and shape them into buns.
7. Place the buns on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and let them rise for another 15-20 minutes.
8. Bake in a preheated oven at 225°C (437°F) for about 10-15 minutes, or until golden brown.
9. Allow the buns to cool, then slice them in half. Fill with almond paste or jam and add whipped cream.
10. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
