A delightful recipe combining mustard-seasoned herring fillets with a refreshing apple salad. Enjoy this dish warm or cold on top of bread. Preparation Time: 30 minutes
Serving Size: 4 servings
Ingredients:
- 500 g herring fillets
- 2 tbsp mustard (e.g., Dijon)
- 2 tbsp oil
- 1 tbsp honey
- Salt to taste
- Black pepper to taste
- 2 apples
- 1 dl grated carrot
- 1 dl green salad (e.g., iceberg lettuce)
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
Instructions:
1. Rinse the herring fillets in cold water and drain them well.
2. In a bowl, mix the mustard, oil, honey, salt, and black pepper.
3. Place the herring fillets on a baking sheet and spread the mustard mixture over the fillets.
4. Bake the fillets in a preheated oven at 200°C (392°F) for about 15 minutes, until cooked through.
5. Peel and dice the apples into small cubes. In a bowl, combine the apple cubes, grated carrot, salad, and lemon juice.
6. Serve the mustard-crusted herring fillets with the apple salad either warm or cold on top of bread.
