Kaalipata (Cabbage Stew)

A hearty and flavorful cabbage stew packed with ground meat and vegetables. Perfect for a cozy dinner. Preparation Time: 2 hours
Serving Size: 4-6 servings
Ingredients:
- 400 g ground meat
- 1 can crushed tomatoes
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 2.5 tsp salt
- 2 tsp oregano
- 2 tsp basil
- 1 tsp thyme
- 1.5 - 2 kg cabbage
- 3 carrots
- 3 onions
- 2 garlic cloves
- (5 chopped tomatoes or cherry tomatoes, optional)
- Fresh parsley
Instructions:
1. In a large pot or pan, brown the ground meat in some oil.
2. Add the crushed tomatoes along with black pepper, salt, oregano, basil, and thyme.
3. Chop the cabbage, slice the carrots, and dice the onions. Gradually add them to the pot as you chop.
4. Cover and simmer on low heat for 1.5 to 2 hours, stirring occasionally.
5. A few minutes before serving, add the tomatoes and simmer for about 5 minutes until they soften.
6. Sprinkle fresh parsley on top before serving.
