A delicious and soft turnip casserole with the strong flavor of turnip and the sweetness of apple, making it a tasty alternative for traditional holiday tables.
Preparation Time: 90 minutes
Serving Size: 3 (0.5-liter aluminum dishes)
Ingredients:
- 500 g turnip puree
- 100 g apple puree
- 1 grated apple (about 100 g)
- 0.5 dl breadcrumbs
- 1.5 dl cream
- 2 eggs
- 0.5 tsp salt
- 1 tbsp dark syrup
- just under 1/4 tsp ground vanilla bean
- additional breadcrumbs and butter for topping
Instructions:
1. Soak the breadcrumbs in the cream.
2. Lightly beat the eggs and add them to the turnip puree.
3. Mix in the apple puree, grated apple, salt, syrup, and vanilla into the turnip puree. Stir well.
4. Pour the mixture into a greased baking dish.
5. Sprinkle additional breadcrumbs on top and add a few small pieces of butter.
6. Bake in the oven at 175°C (350°F) for about 60-70 minutes until the top is beautifully golden brown.
