A delicious and sweet homemade ketchup, perfect for burgers, fries, or your favorite dishes. Easy to make with ripe tomatoes and peppers, and completely vegan! Preparation Time: 1 hour
Serving Size: About 1 liter
Ingredients
- 1 kg ripe tomatoes - 2 red bell peppers
- 2 onions
- 3 cloves garlic
- 100 ml brown sugar
- 100 ml spicy vinegar
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
- ½ tsp chili powder (optional)
- ½ tsp smoked paprika (optional)
Instructions
1. Rinse the tomatoes and cut them into pieces. Remove the seeds from the bell peppers and dice them into small cubes. Peel the onions and garlic.2. Place all the ingredients into a pot and mix well. Heat over medium heat.
3. Allow the mixture to simmer on low heat for about 30-40 minutes, until the tomatoes and peppers are soft.
4. Stir occasionally and blend with an immersion blender if necessary, until you achieve your desired texture.
5. Continue to cook for another 10-15 minutes until the ketchup reaches your desired thickness.
6. Pour the hot ketchup into clean, sterilized jars and seal the lids tightly.
