A simple and classic Italian pasta dish with garlic and olive oil. Preparation Time: 20 minutes
Serving Size: 4 servings
Ingredients:
- 400g spaghetti
- 6 cloves garlic, thinly sliced
- 1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil
- 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- Salt, to taste
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
- Grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
Instructions:
1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the spaghetti according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve 1 cup of pasta water, then drain the spaghetti.
2. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced garlic and sauté until golden and fragrant, about 2-3 minutes.
3. Stir in the red pepper flakes and cook for another minute.
4. Add the drained spaghetti to the skillet, tossing to coat the pasta in the garlic oil. If the pasta seems dry, add a bit of the reserved pasta water to achieve the desired consistency.
5. Season with salt to taste and mix in the chopped parsley.
6. Serve immediately, garnished with grated Parmesan cheese if desired.
