Deliciously spiced meatballs served in a flavorful tomato yogurt sauce. Perfect for summer heat or winter chill. Preparation Time: 1 hour

Ingredients
Koftas: - 600 g ground lamb or pork-beef mix
- 1 grated onion
- 4 garlic cloves, grated
- Thumb-sized piece of grated ginger
- ½ bunch fresh cilantro
- 2 green chilies, chopped
- 1 red chili, chopped
- Salt
- Pepper
Sauce:
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 3 garlic cloves, grated
- Thumb-sized piece of grated ginger
- 1 fresh red chili, chopped
- 400 g crushed tomatoes
- 1½ dl thick yogurt (e.g., Turkish)
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 4 cloves (or ½ tsp ground), crushed
- 1 tbsp roasted coriander seeds, crushed
- ½ tsp cardamom
- 1 tbsp paprika
- 1 tsp turmeric
- 1 tsp cumin
- Salt
- Oil
Instructions
1. Combine all kofta ingredients in a bowl and shape the mixture into 15 balls. Refrigerate the koftas to firm up. 2. Heat oil in a large pan and add all the dry spices. Sauté for about 1 minute.
3. Add the chopped onions, chilies, and grated ginger to the pan. Sauté until the onion softens.
4. Add the crushed tomatoes to the pan and bring to a boil. Finally, stir in the yogurt.
5. Once the sauce is boiling, gently place the koftas into the sauce. Cover and simmer on low heat for about 30 minutes.
6. Serve the koftas hot with naan bread.
