Serving Size: 4-6 servings
Ingredients:
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 garlic cloves, crushed
- 1 can (400 g) crushed tomatoes
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- Fresh basil leaves (optional)
Instructions:
1. Heat olive oil in a saucepan over medium heat. Add chopped onion and sauté until soft and translucent.
2. Add crushed garlic and cook for about a minute until fragrant.
3. Pour in the crushed tomatoes and tomato paste. Stir well to combine.
4. Add sugar, salt, black pepper, oregano, and basil. Mix all ingredients together.
5. Allow the sauce to simmer on low heat for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally until it thickens slightly.
6. Serve with pasta or use as a pizza topping. Garnish with fresh basil leaves if desired.
