Spaghetti Aglio e Olio
Spaghetti Aglio e Olio
recipe
A classic Italian pasta dish with garlic, olive oil, and a hint of chili. Preparation time: 20 minutes
Serving size: 4 servings
Ingredients:
- 400g spaghetti
- 6 cloves garlic, thinly sliced
- 1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil
- 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- Salt, to taste
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
- Grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
Instructions:
1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the spaghetti and cook according to package instructions until al dente.
2. While the pasta is cooking, heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
3. Add the sliced garlic to the skillet and sauté until it turns golden brown, being careful not to burn it.
4. Stir in the red pepper flakes and cook for an additional minute.
5. Once the spaghetti is cooked, reserve 1 cup of the pasta water and drain the rest.
6. Add the drained spaghetti to the skillet with the garlic and oil, tossing to coat.
7. If the pasta seems dry, add some reserved pasta water until the desired consistency is reached.
8. Season with salt to taste and garnish with fresh parsley.
9. Serve immediately, topped with grated Parmesan cheese if desired.
