Ingredients:
- 1 cup rice

- 1/2 cup peas
- 1/2 cup diced carrots
- 1 tablespoon spices (e.g., black pepper, paprika)
Instructions:
1. Rinse the rice under cold water.
2. In a pot, bring the water to a boil and add the salt.
3. Stir in the rice into the boiling water.
4. Lower the heat, cover, and let the rice cook for about 15-20 minutes.
5. In the last few minutes of cooking, add the peas and diced carrots.
6. Before serving, mix in the butter and spices.
7. Serve the rice warm in honor of veterans.
