Classic Spaghetti Aglio e Olio

Ingredients:
- 200g spaghetti - 4 cloves garlic, thinly sliced
- 1/3 cup extra virgin olive oil
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- Salt, to taste
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
- Grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
Instructions:
1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add spaghetti and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve 1/2 cup of pasta water, then drain the pasta. 2. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced garlic and red pepper flakes, cooking gently until the garlic is golden and fragrant, about 2-3 minutes.
3. Add the drained spaghetti to the skillet, tossing to coat in the oil and garlic mixture. If the pasta seems dry, add a little reserved pasta water to loosen it up.
4. Season with salt to taste and toss in the chopped parsley.
5. Serve immediately, garnished with additional parsley and grated Parmesan cheese if desired.
