This delicious Midsummer bread is a perfect addition to your celebration table. Its sweet flavor and beautiful shape make it a stunning treat for summer festivities. Preparation Time: 1 hour
Serving Size: 8-10 servings
Ingredients:
- 500 g all-purpose flour - 100 g sugar
- 2 tsp dry yeast
- 1 tsp salt
- 200 ml milk
- 100 g butter
- 2 eggs
- 1 tsp cardamom
- 100 g berries (e.g., blueberries or raspberries)
- 1 egg for brushing
- Powdered sugar (optional)
Instructions:
1. Melt the butter in a saucepan and add the milk. Heat the mixture until it is lukewarm.2. In a bowl, mix the flour, sugar, dry yeast, salt, and cardamom.
3. Add the melted butter-milk mixture and eggs to the dry ingredients. Knead the dough for about 10 minutes until it is elastic.
4. Let the dough rise in a warm place for about 30 minutes, or until it has doubled in size.
5. Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and gently knead it.
6. Shape the dough into a long loaf and create a desired braid pattern.
7. Place the loaf on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Allow it to rise for another 15-20 minutes.
8. Brush the top with beaten egg and sprinkle the berries over the dough.
9. Bake in a preheated oven at 175 °C (350 °F) for about 25-30 minutes, or until the bread is golden brown.
10. Let it cool before serving. Optionally, you can dust it with powdered sugar.
