A traditional Finnish rye bread that's full of flavor and nutrients. It's easy to make and perfect for everyday meals. Preparation Time: 2 hours
Serving Size: 1 loaf
Ingredients:
- 500 g rye flour
- 300 ml warm water
- 10 g salt
- 10 g dry yeast
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 2 tablespoons oil
Instructions:
1. Dissolve the dry yeast and honey in warm water and let it rest for about 10 minutes.
2. In a large bowl, mix the rye flour and salt together.
3. Add the yeast mixture and oil to the flour mixture.
4. Knead the dough by hand or in a mixer until it's smooth and elastic.
5. Cover the dough with a cloth and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour.
6. Shape the dough into a loaf and place it on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
7. Allow the loaf to rise for another 30 minutes.
8. Bake in a preheated oven at 200°C (400°F) for about 30-40 minutes, or until golden brown.
9. Let the bread cool on a rack before slicing.
