Rye bread is a delicious and nutritious loaf that brings warmth and aroma to your kitchen. Enjoy it with butter or your favorite toppings.
Preparation Time: 3 hours (including rising)
Serving Size: 1 loaf
Ingredients:
- 500 g rye flour
- 200 g wheat flour
- 1 packet dry yeast (about 11 g)
- 2 tsp salt
- 400 ml lukewarm water
- 1 tbsp honey or syrup (optional)
Instructions:
1. In a large bowl, combine rye flour, wheat flour, dry yeast, and salt.
2. Add lukewarm water and honey or syrup (if using) to the flour mixture.
3. Knead the dough for about 10 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
4. Cover the dough with a cloth and let it rise in a warm place for about 1-2 hours, until it has doubled in size.
5. Shape the dough into your desired loaf shape and place it on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
6. Allow the loaf to rise for another 30 minutes.
7. Preheat the oven to 220°C (428°F). Bake the bread for about 30-40 minutes until it is beautifully browned and sounds hollow when tapped.
8. Let the bread cool before slicing.
