A British classic that combines the best of bread and butter with a delightful custard. Perfect for using up stale bread or brioche. This delicious dessert is easy to make and great for reducing food waste!

Serving Size: 4-6 servings

Ingredients:

- 4-6 slices of stale bread or brioche (or a mix of both)
- 50 g butter
- 2 eggs
- 500 ml milk
- 100 ml cream
- 100 g sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla sugar
- 1 tsp cinnamon (optional)
- Raisins or other dried fruits (optional)

Instructions:

1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
2. Grease a baking dish with butter.
3. Cut the bread or brioche into cubes and arrange them in the dish.
4. If using raisins or dried fruits, sprinkle them over the bread.
5. In a bowl, crack the eggs and whisk lightly.
6. Add the milk, cream, sugar, vanilla sugar, and cinnamon to the egg mixture. Mix well.
7. Pour the mixture over the bread cubes, pressing down lightly to soak the bread.
8. Let it sit for about 10 minutes.
9. Bake in the oven for about 30-35 minutes until the top is golden brown and the custard is set.
10. Serve warm with vanilla sauce or ice cream.
