Classic Spaghetti Aglio e Olio

Classic Spaghetti Aglio e Olio
recipe
A simple yet flavorful Italian pasta dish made with garlic, olive oil, and a kick of red pepper flakes. Preparation Time: 20 minutes
Serving Size: 2 servings
Ingredients:
- 200g spaghetti
- 4 cloves garlic, thinly sliced
- 60ml extra virgin olive oil
- 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)
- Salt (to taste)
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
- Grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
Instructions:
1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the spaghetti and cook according to package instructions until al dente.
2. While the pasta is cooking, heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
3. Add the sliced garlic to the skillet and sauté until it becomes golden brown, about 2-3 minutes. Be careful not to burn the garlic.
4. Stir in the red pepper flakes and cook for an additional minute.
5. Once the pasta is done, reserve 1 cup of pasta water and then drain the spaghetti.
6. Add the drained spaghetti to the skillet with the garlic oil. Toss to combine, adding reserved pasta water a little at a time to create a light sauce.
7. Season with salt to taste.
8. Serve immediately, garnished with chopped parsley and grated Parmesan cheese if desired.
