Classic Spaghetti Aglio e Olio

Ingredients:
- 400g spaghetti
- 6 cloves garlic, thinly sliced
- 1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil
- 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- Salt, to taste
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
- Grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
Instructions:
1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the spaghetti and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve 1 cup of pasta water, then drain the spaghetti.
2. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced garlic and sauté until golden brown, about 2 minutes. Be careful not to burn the garlic.
3. Stir in the red pepper flakes and cook for another 30 seconds.
4. Add the drained spaghetti to the skillet, tossing to combine with the garlic oil. If the pasta seems dry, add some reserved pasta water, a little at a time, until desired consistency is reached.
5. Season with salt and toss again.
6. Serve immediately, garnished with fresh parsley and grated Parmesan cheese if desired.
