Classic Spaghetti Aglio e Olio
Classic Spaghetti Aglio e Olio
recipe
A simple and flavorful Italian pasta dish made with garlic, olive oil, and chili flakes. Preparation Time: 20 minutes
Serving Size: 2 servings
Ingredients:
- 200g spaghetti
- 4 cloves garlic, thinly sliced
- 60ml extra virgin olive oil
- 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- Salt, to taste
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
- Grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
Instructions:
1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the spaghetti according to package instructions until al dente.
2. While the pasta is cooking, heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
3. Add the sliced garlic and red pepper flakes to the skillet, sautéing until the garlic is golden brown, about 2-3 minutes. Be careful not to burn the garlic.
4. Once the pasta is done, reserve 1/2 cup of pasta water and drain the rest.
5. Add the cooked spaghetti to the skillet with the garlic oil, tossing to coat the pasta.
6. If the pasta looks dry, add a bit of the reserved pasta water until desired consistency is reached.
7. Season with salt to taste and garnish with chopped parsley.
8. Serve immediately, topped with grated Parmesan cheese if desired.
