This delicious Bolognese sauce is the perfect companion for pasta. While it requires some time to prepare, the end result is well worth the effort.
Preparation Time: 1 hour (for Bolognese sauce)
Serving Size: 4-6 servings
Ingredients:
- 400 g ground beef
- 1 onion
- 5 cloves garlic
- 2 carrots
- 2 stalks celery
- 1 can (400 g) crushed tomatoes
- 1-2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 100 ml white wine
- 100 ml water
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon mixed herbs (such as Provençal)
- 0.5 tablespoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 bay leaves
Instructions:
1. Chop the onion and garlic finely. Peel and grate the carrots. Chop the celery stalks.
2. Brown the ground beef in a pan. If using whole cuts of meat, brown the pieces in oil as well.
3. Add the chopped vegetables to the pan and sauté for about 10 minutes.
4. Add the seasonings, crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, and white wine. Mix well.
5. Lower the heat and cover the pan with a lid. Stir occasionally. Add water if the sauce seems too thick.
6. Simmer the Bolognese sauce for about 1 hour. Serve with pasta.
