A delicious pasta sauce inspired by the original Bologna recipe, perfect for a flavorful pasta experience.

Serving Size: 4 servings

Ingredients:

- 400 g ground beef (or pork)
- 1 large onion, finely chopped
- 2 garlic cloves, crushed
- 1 carrot, finely grated
- 1 celery stalk, finely chopped
- 400 g can of crushed tomatoes
- 2 tbsp tomato paste
- 100 ml red wine (optional)
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp dried basil
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- Parmesan cheese for serving (optional)

Instructions:

1. Heat olive oil in a large pan over medium heat.
2. Add the chopped onion, crushed garlic, grated carrot, and chopped celery. Sauté the vegetables for about 5-7 minutes until they soften.
3. Add the ground meat to the pan and brown it well. Use a fork to break it up for even cooking.
4. Pour in the red wine (if using) and let it simmer for a few minutes to evaporate.
5. Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, and basil. Mix well.
6. Season with salt and black pepper. Allow the sauce to simmer on low heat for about 30-40 minutes to deepen the flavors.
7. Serve the hot sauce over cooked pasta and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese if desired.
