A delicious and hearty minced meat dish, perfect for both everyday meals and festive occasions. This version features lamb and beef mince, along with anchovies, which add depth to the flavor. Preparation Time: 3-4 hours
Serving Size: 4-6
Ingredients:
- 400 g lamb or sheep minced meat - 300 g beef minced meat
- 1 large onion
- 3 - 4 cloves of garlic
- 100 g anchovies with their liquid
- 2 tbsp tomato paste
- 2 tbsp cognac
- 3 - 4 dl water
- salt
- ground white pepper
- oil for frying
Instructions:
1. Heat oil in a pan and brown the minced meats in batches. 2. Peel and finely chop the onion and garlic cloves. Sauté the onions in the pan until soft.
3. Allow the minced meat and onions to cool. Then, grind them together with the anchovies in a food processor until coarsely combined.
4. Add the anchovy liquid and tomato paste to the mixture. Add water to achieve a loose consistency.
5. Season the mixture with cognac, white pepper, and salt if needed.
6. Pour the mixture into a baking dish and bake in the oven at 150°C for at least three hours, preferably longer, until thickened and moldable.
7. Stir the mixture a few times during cooking, but allow a good crust to form on the top.
8. Serve Vorschmack with mashed potatoes or baked potatoes, pickled vegetables, and sour cream.
