Delicious South Karelian meat pies that offer a taste experience and take you on a journey to Lappeenranta. Perfect for Easter treats or other celebrations. Preparation Time: 1 hour
Serving Size: 8 pies
Ingredients:
- 500 g ground meat
- 1 large onion
- 2 dl pre-cooked rice
- 1 egg
- 1 dl cream
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 8 ready-made pastry dough sheets
- 1 egg (for glazing)
Instructions:
1. Peel and chop the onion. Heat a little oil in a pan and sauté the onion until soft.
2. Add the ground meat to the onion and cook until the meat is well-done. Season with salt and pepper.
3. Stir in the pre-cooked rice, egg, and cream into the meat mixture. Mix well.
4. Take the pastry sheets out and place them on a baking paper.
5. Place about a tablespoon of filling in the center of each pastry.
6. Fold the pastries in half and press the edges tightly together. Brush the tops with beaten egg.
7. Bake the pies in an oven preheated to 200 degrees Celsius for about 20-25 minutes until they are golden brown.
8. Serve warm.
