A delightful and traditional treat that brings the festive spirit of May Day into your home. These sweet mini doughnuts are the perfect addition to a May Day picnic or celebration with friends.
Preparation Time: 1.5 hours
Serving Size: 20 mini doughnuts
Ingredients:
- 2.5 dl milk
- 25 g fresh yeast
- 1 dl sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 tsp cardamom
- 1 tsp vanilla sugar
- 1 egg
- 5 dl all-purpose flour
- 50 g melted butter
- Oil for frying
- Powdered sugar for decoration
Instructions:
1. Warm the milk to body temperature and dissolve the fresh yeast in it.
2. Add sugar, salt, cardamom, vanilla sugar, and the egg. Mix well.
3. Gradually add the all-purpose flour and stir until the dough is smooth. Add the melted butter and knead the dough for about 10 minutes until it is elastic.
4. Cover the dough with a cloth and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, until it has doubled in size.
5. Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and divide it into 20 pieces. Shape the pieces into small balls.
6. Place the balls on parchment paper and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
7. Heat oil in a pot to about 180°C (350°F). Fry the doughnuts until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes on each side.
8. Remove the doughnuts and place them on paper towels to drain. Sprinkle with powdered sugar before serving.
