Ingredients:
- Fresh asparagus
- Enough water to just cover the asparagus
- 1-2 tsp salt (per liter of water)
- 1 tsp sugar (optional)
- 1 tbsp butter or olive oil (optional)
- Lemon juice (optional)
Instructions:
1. Rinse the asparagus thoroughly under cold water and trim off the woody ends.
2. Place water in a pot and add salt. Bring the water to a boil.
3. Add the asparagus to the boiling water and cook for about 3-5 minutes until tender but still crisp.
4. Drain the asparagus and rinse with cold water to stop the cooking process.
5. Serve the asparagus with butter or olive oil, and add lemon juice if desired.
