A delicious Finnish dish featuring fried herring and creamy potatoes.
Preparation Time: 30 minutes
Serving Size: 4 servings
Ingredients:
- 500 g herring fillets
- 600 g potatoes
- 1 dl milk
- 1 dl cream
- 1 onion
- 2 tbsp butter
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh dill (optional)
Instructions:
1. Peel and dice the potatoes into small cubes. Boil the potatoes in salted water for about 15 minutes until tender.
2. Peel and chop the onion. Heat the butter in a frying pan and sauté the onion until soft.
3. Add the herring fillets to the pan with the onion and fry for about 3-4 minutes on each side.
4. Pour the milk and cream over the herring in the pan. Season with salt and pepper. Let it simmer on low heat for a few minutes.
5. Drain the cooked potatoes and add them to the pan with the herring. Gently mix to combine.
6. Serve the dish warm, garnished with fresh dill if desired.
