A delicious smoked trout cheese pie perfect for a savory snack or light meal.
Preparation Time: 50 minutes
Serving Size: 6 servings
Ingredients:
- 100 g margarine
- 3 dl all-purpose flour
- 2 tsp salt
- 1/2 dl cold water
Filling:
- 2 dl smoked trout (cleaned and finely chopped)
- 2 eggs
- 2 dl cream
- 1 dl grated cheese (e.g., Emmental or Cheddar)
- 1/2 dl finely chopped chives (optional)
Instructions:
1. Melt the margarine and let it cool slightly.
2. In a bowl, mix the flour and salt. Add the melted margarine and cold water. Knead the dough until smooth.
3. Press the dough into the bottom and sides of a pie dish. Prick the bottom with a fork.
4. Pre-bake the crust at 200°C (392°F) for about 10 minutes.
5. Meanwhile, prepare the filling: whisk the eggs and add the cream, mixing well. Fold in the smoked trout, cheese, and chives. Stir until combined.
6. Pour the filling over the pre-baked crust.
7. Bake the pie for an additional 25-30 minutes or until the filling is set and the top is a beautiful golden brown.
8. Allow to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm or at room temperature.
