Ingredients:
- 800 g potatoes
- 2 dl heavy cream
- 1 dl milk
- 2 garlic cloves
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp nutmeg
- 100 g grated cheese (e.g., Gruyère or Cheddar)
- Butter for greasing the baking dish
Instructions:
1. Peel and slice the potatoes into thin rounds.
2. Peel and crush the garlic cloves.
3. Grease a baking dish with butter.
4. In a bowl, combine the cream, milk, crushed garlic, salt, black pepper, and nutmeg, and mix well.
5. Layer the potato slices in the baking dish and pour the cream mixture over them, repeating the layers until all ingredients are used.
6. Sprinkle the grated cheese on top of the dish.
7. Cover the dish with foil and bake at 180°C (350°F) for about 40 minutes.
8. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, until the top is beautifully golden brown.
9. Let it rest for a moment before serving.
