A delicious French bacon and cheese pie, perfect for brunch or a light meal.
Preparation Time: 1 hour
Serving Size: 6-8 servings
Ingredients:
- 1 ready-made pie crust
- 150 g bacon
- 1 onion
- 200 g cheese (e.g., Emmental or Gruyère)
- 3 eggs
- 200 ml cream
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh herbs (e.g., parsley or thyme) for garnish
Instructions:
1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
2. Cook the bacon in a skillet until crispy, then transfer to paper towels to drain.
3. Sauté the chopped onion in the same skillet until soft.
4. Place the pie crust in a greased pie dish.
5. Sprinkle the cooked bacon and sautéed onion over the pie crust.
6. Grate the cheese and add it on top of the bacon and onion.
7. In a bowl, crack the eggs, add the cream, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
8. Pour the egg mixture over the pie crust.
9. Bake in the oven for about 30-35 minutes, or until the top is golden brown.
10. Allow to cool slightly before serving and garnish with fresh herbs.
