A traditional French bacon pie made with simple ingredients like eggs and crème fraîche. This delicious quiche is perfect for serving at lunch or dinner. Preparation Time: 1 hour 15 minutes
Serving Size: 6-8 servings
Ingredients:
- 200 g all-purpose flour - 120 g butter
- 0.5 tsp salt
- 2 tbsp cold water
- 4 eggs
- 250 g crème fraîche
- 200-250 g bacon
- Salt
- Black pepper
- Nutmeg
Instructions:
1. In a bowl, mix the flour and butter until crumbly. Add salt and cold water, and mix until it forms a dough. 2. Add one egg to the dough and mix well. Shape the dough into a ball, wrap it in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for about an hour.
3. Cut the bacon into 1 cm pieces and fry them in a pan until crispy. Drain on paper towels to absorb excess fat.
4. In a bowl, whisk the eggs and add the crème fraîche. Season with salt, black pepper, and nutmeg.
5. Roll out the refrigerated dough into a thin sheet and line a pie dish with it.
6. Spread the cooked bacon over the dough and pour the egg mixture on top of the bacon.
7. Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for about 45-50 minutes. Let it rest for 15-20 minutes before serving.
