Delicious Finnish doughnuts, soft and sweet, perfect for any occasion. Preparation Time: 2 hours
Serving Size: 10-12 doughnuts
Ingredients:
- 2 dl milk - 25 g fresh yeast
- 1 dl sugar
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp cardamom
- 1/2 dl butter (melted)
- 2 eggs
- 7-8 dl all-purpose flour
- Oil for frying
- Powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions:
1. Warm the milk until lukewarm and crumble the fresh yeast into it. Stir until the yeast dissolves. 2. Add the sugar, salt, cardamom, and melted butter. Mix well.
3. Incorporate the eggs and stir until the mixture is smooth.
4. Gradually add the flour until the dough is soft and does not stick to your hands.
5. Allow the dough to rise under a cloth for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
6. Knead the dough lightly and shape it into balls.
7. Let the doughnuts rise for another 30 minutes.
8. Heat oil in a deep pan and fry the doughnuts until they are golden brown on both sides.
9. Remove the doughnuts and place them on paper towels, then dust with powdered sugar before serving.
