Berliner Doughnuts

Delicious, soft, and filled sweet pastries perfect for coffee breaks or treat days. Preparation Time: 2 hours (including rising)
Serving Size: About 12 doughnuts
Ingredients:
- 100 g butter - 4 dl milk
- 40 g yeast
- 2 eggs + 1 egg yolk
- 100 g sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp cardamom (optional)
- 1 l frying oil (for frying)
- Powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions:
1. Melt the butter in a saucepan and add the milk. Heat the mixture until it is lukewarm.2. Crumble the yeast into the warm mixture and stir until the yeast dissolves.
3. Add the eggs, egg yolk, sugar, salt, and cardamom. Mix well.
4. Gradually add flour until the dough is soft but not sticky.
5. Knead the dough for about 10 minutes until it is elastic.
6. Cover the dough with a cloth and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until it has doubled in size.
7. Roll out the dough to about 1.5 cm thick. Cut out circles (about 7-8 cm in diameter).
8. Place a small amount of your desired jam or filling in the center of each circle. Fold the circles in half and seal the edges well.
9. Let the doughnuts rise for another 30 minutes.
10. Heat the frying oil to 180 degrees Celsius. Fry the doughnuts a few at a time until golden brown, turning them during frying.
11. Remove the doughnuts and place them on paper towels to cool for a moment.
12. Sift powdered sugar over the doughnuts before serving.
